I started as a part-time EA for the President, Vice President and Operations Coordinator of this marketing/ public relations firm, maintaining multiple calendars, managing all production timelines and communicating ROI through weekly, metrics-rich reporting to Fortune 500 clients, nonprofits and 800+ national affiliates. Now, as the key point of contact for internal/external stakeholders, I oversee database operations and workflow to increase productivity of sales and affiliate relations.
▪ Designed customized databases, improving staff communications, information sharing and reporting.
▪ Launched 3 websites and social networking initiatives to increase new business opportunities.
▪ Managed, booked and scheduled 100 media campaigns for clients like the American Cancer Society, the Kessler Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, the National Down Syndrome Society, the YMCA and the Partnership with Native Americans.
▪ Re-designed the internship program, increasing participation over 400% through strategic marketing and recruitment initiatives.

One of my favorite projects has been channeling my teaching experience into expanding our internship program. We now host 4-8 interns from colleges and tech schools annually, and our entire staff enthusiastically works with them to provide the kind of real world experience you don’t find in a classroom. I create individual programs for each intern based upon their goals, meeting with each of them at the beginning, mid-point and end of their internship. I also coordinate Orientation, Intern Appreciation Day and a Career Workshop about resumes, cover letters and job interviews.


Program Leader, Pittsburgh CLO Creative Vision Program 

I created and implemented 3 replicable, award-winning, arts-infused curriculums designed to help K-12 students achieve state academic standards in literacy, language arts, math and humanities through immersion into musical theater. I managed a team of 8 instructors at 5 school sites serving 1200 inner city students during in-school, after school and summer programs. We began each day in an African drum circle, and often ended up covered in paint and glue. My team produced ten performance pieces each year, creating moments for all students to shine as writers, actors, singers, dancers, artists, designers or backstage crew.

As direct administrative support for the Director of Education and Outreach, I represented our team at promotional events with funders and other stakeholders, and wrote copy for marketing and educational outreach, including course catalogs, study guides, websites, press releases and grant proposals resulting in $50,000 program support. We were also recognized with the Pittsburgh Public Council on Education’s Gold Star Award for outstanding arts programming.


Administrative Assistant & Satellite Campus Manager,  Pittsburgh Center for the Arts School 

Edited the member newsletter, course catalog and other marketing materials. In addition to teaching theater classes for children and adults on the main campus, I was tasked with running the successful pilot year of summer arts programming at a suburban satellite campus, scheduling instructors, coordinating classroom space and inventory and establishing relationships with new community partners, vendors and customer base.


Peer Tutor Coordinator/Asst to Director, Carlow University Center for Academic Achievement 

As the Executive Secretary for the Director of this academic learning center, I managed the appointment calendar for the Director, all teaching staff and changing roster of student tutors and coordinated the year-round placement testing for 500+ students. I increased student participation by 30% with a marketing/recruitment campaign and streamlined the orientation system for on-boarding, training and supervising 50 +peer tutors. Trained students with disabilities on accessible technology to improve their academic performance.


Director of Education, Prime Stage Theater 

As the first Director of Education for this nonprofit children’s theater, I worked with 50 schools and funders to initiate community outreach, developing student matinees, artist-in-residency programs and internships reaching 3000 students. Through collaborations with the Holocaust Center and other CBOs, we gained national recognition from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education as an Outstanding New Children’s Theatre Company.


Executive Secretary, Dollar Energy Fund, Pittsburgh

I was promoted from a temporary secretary in 4 weeks to provide direct support to the ED of a nonprofit helping low-income families pay their utility bills. I coordinated all communications and meetings for the Board of Directors, 150 CBOs and 12 utility partners. I wrote speeches for the ED’s public appearances, produced an award-winning annual report, managed the grant application review database and contributed to strategic planning for their first website design.


Administrative Assistant, City Theater, Pittsburgh 

I designed the Box Office’s first ticketing database and led a successful summer telemarketing campaign. I wrote articles for the member newsletter and assisted with Board committees as well as planning Board events and fundraisers. Highlights included meeting my idol Fred Rogers during a fundraiser and making him laugh.


Assistant to Director of Community Relations, Actors Theater of Louisville 

I was one of the first accepted into ATL’s new administrative intern program, and fortunate to wind up working for someone who taught me more in 2 weeks about theatre, nonprofit administration, and people than I had learned during six years of higher education. I was trusted with the company management (travel and housing) of 2 international festivals, volunteer coordination, and Board communications. I helped conceive and plan several events and fundraisers. I wrote the speech and co-presented at C.A.V.O.R.T., the national conference of volunteers for regional theaters. I also met just about everyone who’s anyone on the regional and Broadway stages.
